Girls and Corpses Issue #1 in print & finally here!
Who knew you had to die to bang super models?
Danny Northside - Tuesday, April 3, 2007
The long awaited first print issue is finally available to the masses. That’s right, finally something for the back of my toilet to impress the ladies with! After a two years of diligently running one of the strangest and most shocking websites ever, the magazine everyone never thought that would make it to paper actually did! There was a slight delay with shipping I was one of the many who was checking my mailbox daily like a little kid waiting for Santa to show up, and for the first time in years I didn’t get coal in my stocking! If you're unfamiliar with Girls and Corpses you have been missing out. According to the sites founder and now publisher Steven Rhine on the site, “Girls & Corpses is sort of like Maxim Magazine meets Dawn of the Dead. There are pictures in each issue of beautiful, scantily clad young beauties posing with hideous, decaying, festering corpses. Also, we have interviews, comic book art, music and movie reviews and other mayhem. What could be better?” That being well said is just the beginning……
The site each month is set up like a magazine. I stumbled across it Girls and Corpses when their first issue was posted. I was totally amazed that someone came up with such a brilliant idea. It instantly reminded me of that scene when Dice Clay was excited to see the new issue of “Guns and Pussy” in National Lampoons Favorite Deadly Sins. Here were two super hotties named Cassie & Mailie in baby doll pajamas chilling in bed with a rotting corpse in a well done picture spread. And by the second issue they really got on the ball with an interview with porn star Belladonna, movie reviews, articles, and news all with a touch of humor. With no time for rigamortis to set in, Rhine’s creation continued grow with the help of magazines such as Maxim, FHM, Rue Morgue, and a slew of others spreading the disease. Andrea Ownbey, aka Miss Howard Stern, took over the cover and did a special holiday shoot for Issue #14 and that was it: Girls and Corpses was a name nobody would ever forget. Combine continues promotion, creative writing, and classy photography and you are bound to do well. The success of The Girls and Corpses 2007 Calander, and co-publisher Stephen Miller pushing hard for the magazine to go to print led this amazing first issue to finally land in my hands. It’s a really thick issue for that matter. Who better to make the cover is non other than the beautiful Sheri Moon Zombie! There is a full feature interview with her talking about movies, touring, Rob Zombie’s beard (haha), and a few other interesting things. Also in the issue are comic illustrations, a few interesting articles, a lot of interesting fake adds for products that cracked me up, reviews, and an interview with the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy: Jim Smith. Also is an article on a Roller Derby League, Sex Tips From Doctor Necco Feelya, an interview with The Bouncing Souls, and a really rare talk with Jorg Buttgereit who produced that crazy little German film called Nekromantik!!!! Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the spread of The Girls and Corpses Mansion with a bunch of sweet babes are in bikini’s lounging around the pool with a bunch of rotten fellas!
But what blew me completely out of the water was probably the best interview I have ever read with a porn star by the name of Holly Stevens who specializes in clown porn. That’s right, you read that correctly: CLOWN PORN! At first I thought maybe it was a joke interview, so to not sound retarded when I told my friends about it while drinking this weekend I looked it up. Yes, it is not a joke, it is real! The interview is awesome too – the entire time I laughed. Holly Stevens has a real good sense of humor, I mean she has too – she takes one in the va jayjay while wearing clown shoes and a red nose! I’m still laughing…… (I originally stated the poop hole, I apologize for that one Holly!)
As for the first printed issue in a whole I need to quote Borat by saying one simple word: “Success!” I really enjoyed it. There is nothing I like better than enjoying a good laugh, and I did with Girls and Corpses. I am honestly really looking forward to the next issue. If the printed version of Girls and Corpses really takes off as I expect it will, when subscriptions become available you can sign this guy up for sure! Congrats guys…. The mag is published by Robert Steven Rhine/Rhine Entertainment and Stephan Miller / Gunslinger Media. Publishing as of now is four issues per year. be sure to check out there site www.girlsandcorpses.com and thier Myspace page at www.myspace.com/girlsandcorpses Issue #9 My favorite cover
