Interview w/ Repo! Director Darren Bousman

Also w/ Terrance Zdunich and Joseph Bishara

Brandon Awesomest - Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Chandler Cinemas had the opportunity to show Repo! The Genetic Opera – a movie we totally recommend this past December 4th, 2008. The film was hosted by our radio show’s lady counterpart Andrea “The Midnite Movie Mamacita.”

It is an extraordinary film and director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II –IV), screenplay writer Terrance Zdunich, and music producer Joseph Bishara brought the film on a “Road Tour” promoting the it old school style themselves from city to city this year. The three guys did a fun Q&A after the film as well as signing anything and everything people wanted signed till the last fan left the building.

Bousman stated that Repo! didn’t receive good reactions from critics and he feels the film is worth more than the negative hype it has received.

I saw the film and to be honest I was completely blown away. The songs were awesome, the set designs were stunning, all the actors were great, and let’s face it: The story fucking rules.

If you’re unfamiliar with the story line here is a brief synopsis from Lionsgate:

In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

The film is scheduled to be release January 20th, 2009.

Below is an interview in two parts Brandon did with the three guys before the sold out showings of Repo! The photos were done by Andy Hartmark and the video was filmed and edited by the legendary Dan Stone.

Hope you enjoy! - Danny
