Released: 2008 Director: John Gulager Starring: Jenny Wade, Clu Gulager, Diane Ayala Goldner, Martin Klebra, Carl Anthony Payne, Tom Gulager, Hanna Putnam Website: Feast 2 on IMDB Buy this movie at Amazon The first of the two direct to dvd sequels for “Feast”. To start off, I can say that I’ve been looking forward to this for quite some time now due to how much I enjoyed the first film. Can say that in watching this one it was great in that it still followed along as best as it possibly could to the events that happened in the first film. If you’re not familiar with the original at all, it’d be best to watch it before sitting down to watch this one. Rest assured, the gore is still intact as but taken to a little bit more extremes in this movie.
The movie starts off just hours after the bar massacre from the first film. A character introduced as “Biker Queen” shows up at the bar in search of “Harley Mom”, one of the deceased from the previous night. While searching around outside she comes across the “Bartender” who was presumed dead of a heart attack from the end of the first movie. After a little while of being tortured by “Biker Queen” into telling her what events took place the night before as well as who’s responsible for killing “Harley Mom”, she takes him along in search of the remaining survivors from the first film who blew “Harley Mom“ up with a homemade bomb. For those who don’t remember the three who got away it was “Bozo”, “Hot Wheels”, and “Tuffy”. While in search in the next town over from the bar flashbacks from 16 hours earlier show the fanged creatures have made their way over there and have massacred the town. When “Biker Queen” arrives to town with “Bartender” and her gang in tow, they come across other survivors and from there all hell breaks loose. A few surprises are in store in the events that follow afterwards as well as a few laughs along the way. Not giving away too many spoilers like how the film ends here are a few things you will intake while watching the film. A fight between two midget wrestlers, a heroic rescue gone way wrong, a meth head holding up in the town jail, a man made catapult, and maybe even an appearance from another old friend from the first “Feast“. More exploration is done to what the insides of the creatures look like and what purpose some of the organs do serve which wasn’t detailed all that much in the first movie. As well as the few designated heroes in the film the foils are there as well and given justice where justice is due. In some ways worse than others of course.
Conclusion: Fans of the first film won’t be let down. The only thing really off throwing from the first one is that there’s a lot of daytime filming and not just confined in the realm of the night like the first time around. Can say that I’m glad the sequel was done in a shorter time frame then others who wait about 20 plus years to finally do one. Anyone else know about Poltergeist 4? Am definitely looking forward to the third one.
